Privacy
Bloom is a journal, and a journal is only useful if it is yours. This
page says exactly what the app does with what you write, in plain terms.
LAST UPDATED 13 OCTOBER 2026
Bloom collects nothing. There is no account, no server
of ours, no analytics and no advertising. Nothing you write is sent to
us, because there is nowhere for it to be sent.
Where your writing lives
Everything you create in Bloom — journal entries, tasks, events, projects
and photos — is stored on your device.
If you switch on iCloud sync, that same content is also
stored in your own iCloud account, in a private database
only your Apple Account can open. It counts against your iCloud storage,
not ours. We cannot read it, and neither can Apple. Sync is off until you
turn it on.
What the app asks permission for
Each of these is optional. Decline any of them and the rest of Bloom works.
- Calendars
- So your events appear beside your tasks and entries. Events you create in Bloom are written to the calendar you choose, which is how they reach iCloud, Google or Exchange — through the account you already added in iOS Settings. Bloom has no connection to those services of its own.
- Photos and camera
- So you can attach a picture to an entry. Photos you choose are copied into Bloom and stay on the device, plus your iCloud if sync is on. Bloom does not browse or upload your library.
- Location
- Used while you're in the app, for two things: local weather, and finding a place when you attach one to an entry or event. A place you attach is saved with that entry. Your location is not logged or sent anywhere else.
- Media and Apple Music
- So Bloom can show what you've been listening to and let you add a song to an entry. Only the song's title, artist and album are saved with the entry.
- Notifications
- Reminders for tasks, events and journalling. These are scheduled on your device; nothing is sent through a server.
What we never do
- No analytics, crash trackers or advertising SDKs — Bloom contains no third-party tracking code of any kind.
- No profiling, no data brokers, nothing sold or shared.
- No account to create, so no email address or password to lose.
Taking your work with you, or deleting it
- Export. Settings → Export a copy writes everything as plain JSON with your photos alongside, through the normal share sheet. It is yours to keep, read and move elsewhere.
- Delete. Removing the app deletes the copy on that device. If sync is on, the copy in your iCloud is removed through Apple's own controls, in iOS Settings under your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.
Children
Bloom is not directed at children and collects nothing from anyone,
including them.
Changes to this page
If what Bloom does with your data ever changes, this page changes with it
and the date above moves. Anything that would make these promises less
true would be announced in the app first.
